Ginkgo biloba a figyelemhiányos/hiperaktivitási rendellenességek kezelésében gyermekeknél és serdülőknél. Véletlenszerű, placebo-kontrollos vizsgálat

Ginkgo biloba in the treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children and adolescents. A randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Ginkgo biloba as an adjunctive therapy for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Methods: Children and adolescents with ADHD received methylphenidate (20-30 mg/day) plus Ginkgo biloba (80-120 mg/day) or placebo for 6 weeks. Parent and teacher forms of the ADHD Rating Scale IV (ADHD-RS-IV) were completed at baseline, weeks 2, and 6. Response to treatment was 27% improvement in ADHD-RS-IV.

Results: Compared with placebo, greater reductions were observed for Ginkgo biloba in ADHD-RS-IV parent-rated inattention scores, total scores, and teacher-rated inattention scores. Response rates were higher for Ginkgo biloba compared with placebo based on parent ratings.

Conclusions: Ginkgo biloba is an effective adjunctive treatment for ADHD. Further studies with longer treatment durations are warranted in this regard.
